We are constantly adding updated treatment methods and extra information. Vaginismus is a sexual function problem that we treat permanently with a hundred percent success rate.

What is Vaginismus? What are the Treatment Methods?

The muscle around the vagina (vagina), which is the organ where sexual intercourse takes place in women, causes pain and pain during sexual intercourse with the picture that occurs with involuntary and momentary contractions, or the event that sexual intercourse does not occur at all for this reason is called “Vaginusmus”.  The painful and painful causes experienced during sexual intercourse are a situation that prevents the person from having a healthy sexual intercourse. In order to eliminate this situation, vaginusmus treatment is required and this is of great importance for individuals. Contractions caused by this disease can occur during sexual intercourse, as well as the use of tampons during menstruation or during a doctor’s examination. The muscles that cause contractions are the pelvic muscles surrounding the vagina. If the pelvic muscles, which are the muscle group that acts as a hammock between the bladder and the uterus, are weak, there is difficulty in working. This situation also affects sexual functions.

Vaginusmus disease is quite common and common worldwide. Approximately one out of every eight women in Turkey has this disease. For this reason, we often encounter situations where the sexual lives of many couples are negatively affected and their psychology is disrupted for this reason.

Is Vaginismus a First Night Fear?

According to some therapists, one of the definitions put forward is that vaginismus is the fear of the first night. These definitions do not contain any accuracy. In some societies, this first night fear develops as results that circulate by word of mouth and have exaggerated discourses. As can be understood from this situation, psychological conditions described as fear of the first night are the most significant cause of vaginismus problem in women.  Excessive pain, pain and fear of bleeding during intercourse on the first night are seen at high rates in vaginismus patients. For this reason, vaginismus is also called ‘fear of the first night’ or ‘fear of the night of the truth’.

Vaginismus is a Negative Conditioning

Vaginismus disease can sometimes manifest itself in the form of inability to have sexual intercourse and reluctance to have sexual intercourse after one or more painful and contractive sexual intercourse. In this way, the woman places the feeling of feeling pain in her subconscious during intercourse, and in this way, the idea of feeling pain will settle in all ongoing relationships and will settle in the mind in the form of a ‘negative conditioning’ (self-conditioning) in the person. This negative conditioning situation causes a feeling of pain as a result of the contraction that occurs during intercourse.

What are the Symptoms of Vaginismus?

The indicators and symptoms of vaginismus disease are multiple. The most important and most common of these is that the patient cannot have sexual intercourse at all. It is seen that most of the women who come for treatment are virgins. In some cases, it is stated that vaginusmus patients have had sexual intercourse before, but this process is very problematic, painful and painful. Pain conditions during sexual intercourse are called and known as “dyspareunia”. Apart from this, problems such as the inability to perform the symptoms of the disease due to contractions and spasms in gynecological examinations, the inability to use tampons and suppositories, sexual intercourse in certain positions, and the ability of only a part of the penis to enter the vaginal canal are among these symptoms. Apart from this, vaginismus patients show some psychological symptoms before sexual intercourse. Some psychological negative thoughts such as anxiety and fear caused by the occurrence of conditions such as bleeding and tearing in the genital area of the person, and thinking that he will be hurt are frequently observed. Many patients are alienated from their own body and even cannot take care of their own genital area.

What are the Causes of Vaginismus? What Causes Vaginismus?

In general, we can examine the problems of vaginismus disease under two main topics. The reason why 90 percent of this problem is seen on patients is psychological and the remaining 10 percent is due to a structural problem.

Psychological Cause of Vaginismus; In general, it is based on many reasons such as wrong sexual education, listening to negative opinions experienced during sexual intercourse that develops as a result of moral and social pressure, sexual traumas experienced in childhood, false information and fears about the hymen, and wrong gynecological examination.

Structural Causes of Vaginismus; Pelvic inflammatory diseases, vaginal infections, congenital anatomical abnormalities, yulvar vestibulitis syndrome and some cysts can be seen. If we give an example of congenital anarchomic abnormalities, we can say that the hymen is thick-walled or high-edged enough to cause problems during sexual intercourse. In addition to these, there are also cases where the problem is seen even though it does not have a structural and psychological source. As mentioned in the symptoms of vaginismus disease, it is a very important step for the treatment to be successful that the patient undergoes a gynecological evaluation and receives a definitive diagnosis of vaginismus, since it can have many different causes.

What Problems Does Vaginismus Create for Couples?

Many patients have the wrong idea that vaginismus is a disease that only happens on their own. Couples cannot share these problems, which are described as private and intimate, even with their closest relatives and magnify this problem within themselves, and in the end, it becomes an inextricable situation. However, when some research is done on the internet and other media, people who experience this problem see and realize that the problem is not only on their own, but also that many couples have problems with these issues and that they are not alone. In recent years, both in the countries of the world and in Turkey, vaginismus disease is frequently seen among couples and this situation is increasing. Most people who have this problem find questions such as what is vaginismus and why do we have this problem in their minds. Living with the problem of vaginismus and constantly struggling with this problem not only consumes the energy of the couples, but also creates a depression effect on people. This even affects loyalty. In couples with vaginismus treatment, a rebirth to life is observed and the troubles and unhappiness experienced in the past related to the problem are quickly forgotten. Depending on this situation, hopes and happiness for sexual intercourse in couples and the excitement of reunion after months or years are born. Treatment of vaginismus is of great importance for other reasons. The meaning of the word vaginismus is the elimination of the intercourse with her husband by contracting herself at the time of intercourse, although there is no problem during the period called foreplay in sexual intercourse. Due to the involuntary contraction of the vagina during intercourse, the penis is blocked by a barrier and it is not possible to enter. The vast majority of vaginismus patients can contract not only the muscles of the vagina but also the muscles in the abdomen, hips, waist and groin areas during sexual intercourse. Patients with a large problem may have involuntary contractions from the toes to the jaw muscles. All these contractions during sexual intercourse are involuntary contractions of the person, occurring outside of his control. Due to these contractions, individuals experience widespread muscle pain known as “myalli” in the following hours. If the couples have assured each other that there will be no physical sexual intercourse before sexual intercourse, the relationship becomes more enjoyable. However, in women who think that intercourse will take place after intercourse, the lack of pleasure in the foreplay process disappears due to anxiety and anxiety.

What are the Types and Types of Vaginismus?

As mentioned above, vaginismus can be divided into two according to the source of the problem, as well as classified according to the time of occurrence of the problem. This classification is primary and secondary.

Primary Vaginismus: The class of vaginismus that occurs with the first sexual intercourse in patients is called “Primary Vaginismus”.

Secondary Vaginismus: The condition that occurs in people who have been able to have sexual intercourse without any problems and without any problems before, but who have problems later due to injury, inflammation (infection), surgical operation or psychological trauma, is called “Secondary Vaginismus”.

What are the Vaginismus Treatment Izmir Methods?

After the patient is diagnosed and diagnosed, if vaginismus disease is related to a structural problem, treatment is carried out in the form of eliminating this problem. In the vast majority of anatomical (congenital) problems, the problem can be eliminated with a simple surgical procedure. If there is a sub-cause such as inflammation, then the inflammation must be eliminated.

If the main problem of the person is due to psychological reasons, cognitive therapy should be started after the gynecological examination. Cognitive therapy is basically based on the woman’s correct recognition of her body and the elimination of the mistakes she knows about herself.

Important materials and models are used for this approach. Many women with vaginismus problems develop some thoughts such as their vagina being narrower or problematic than normal. With the cognitive therapy method, these thoughts are tried to be eliminated.

The next stage after cognitive therapy is behavioral therapy.
